A5 Roadworks 9 - 11 October 2021

AMENDED START DATE TO - ESSENTIAL SAFETY IMPROVEMENT WORKS A5 HOBBY FISH

I’m writing to give you an update to the start of works mentioned above. We will now start the work a week later than originally advised to prevent a clash with other works in the area.

We’ll be carrying out safety improvement works on the A5 Watling Street on both the northbound and southbound carriageways before the turning entrance into Hobby Fish (Northbound).

During our scheme of work, we’ll extend the length of the existing southbound high friction surfacing, install a new high friction surface to the northbound carriageway, refresh road markings and install road studs.

Once completed, all road users will benefit from a safer and improved road condition.

When will the work take place?
Work is due to start for 2 nights on Saturday 9th October 2021 and is scheduled for

completion by Monday11th October 2021.
To keep our programme for these works as short as possible and to minimise disruption

to the local community, we will work during the night

  • between 8pm Saturday until 6am Sunday

  • between 8pm Sunday until 6am Monday
Please note all our planned works are subject to change due to weather conditions or

    unforeseen circumstances.

How will the work affect traffic?

To maintain a safe environment for our workforce and motorists, we will need to fully close the carriageway in both directions while we work, between the A5 Towcester roundabout and the A5 Old Stratford roundabout. Local access will be granted to residents and small businesses in designated areas only. A full road closure will be in

place from A5 Stratford roundabout to Potterspury village with no access between points. Diversions will be in place if required to use roads during stated closure times. The road will be open during the day as normal

During all road closures we will put in place fully signed diversion routes which have been agreed with Local Authorities for this important safety improvement work. All carriageways will be open as usual outside our working hours.

No HGV’s will be granted access during restricted times, HGV’s will need to follow diversion in place.

How will the work affect businesses and residents?

We’ll make sure that access to businesses and residences is maintained wherever possible.

If you would like further information regarding the diversions route drawings, please contact us so we can explain them in greater detail.

We’ll also have a dedicated Public Liaison Officer on hand to answer any questions.
